It was inevitable that these two planets would collide. With orbital paths so similar, it was only a matter of time before the larger of the planets tore the smaller from its stellar course, signaling their mutual demise.
This one took fifteen hours or so in photoshop. It was lots of fun to do!
Please see the full version. Comments are valued dearly.
This is---awesome! It seriously took me a few moments to decide what word to put there...the detailing is excellent, disgustingly good. Great use of color as well; if I were to witness two planets colliding that's the view I would want. Cool use of shading and the star background is very well done too. I would love to see a piece of the same scene a few minutes after this impact, just to see what it would look like I think...that'd rock...Great work!
this is realy nice... i will never be able to do something like this.. at least uintil i learn...
lol...
well everything looks nice... textures and type of the terreain .. just the cloud dont have the same quality... i think they need more texture...
well but that just me.. and as i said i am not able to do this type of things,,,

ahhh with the explosion of the coliding planets, around the fire normaly there would be smoke.. and the high tempareture would have made a massive formation of clouds trow the evaporacion of oceon wather... just a pointer in geographic stuff.. this i understand..

wow, that's some really nice work very good work on the planet texture, although the clouds need work I think.
what I don't like that much is the starfield, I think it needs work, and it's a bit too bright. and it's quite a contrast to that rather violent forground.
in any case, good work

It is me - Wladimir. Nice picture. You didn't put this full version on your site. This image reminds me on Greg Martin's "Cataclysm". Are you use his picture (Cataclysm) for example? You smaller version on site isn't very good like this. Something is wrong with stars. Background of the sky is blue, but is need to be black. When it is black picture looks more nicer.
I do have the full version on my site in the artwork section. The wallpaper version is indeed a crop. I'm sure cataclysm affected me subconsciously, but I did not reference it directly. I should have concetrated on my sketch more closely. The space is blue to bring out the planet's night side. I could argue that stars are giving off a diffuse glow, but I'd probably be better calling it artistic license.
